Miniature Sushi Box

One of my cousins posted a photo of a sushi platter on facebook and it got me inspired to make a sushi bento box using the quilling technique.

I gathered my white and black papers then started rolling them up with some red, orange, yellow and green papers for the filling.

And voila... my own miniature sushi bento box!

I also added some california maki there, that's the sushi with the orange cover :)

I've also added a tempura topped rice and some green and orange rolled up paper to make some carrots and cucumber.

As for the box, I molded 2 tight coils into a square then glued together to make a rectangular base, then I covered it with a lime colored paper to make the box wall.

This miniature sushi box is about an inch long and 1 cm wide. I just covered it all with glue at the top to make "shiny".

Hope you guys enjoyed this one!

Miniature Fruit Tarts

I love fruits, I think there's no fruit that I don't eat. I specially love them on my dessert so while researching for a local place that serves good fruit cakes, I came across some really cute miniature fruit tarts on the web and that inspired to make my own quilled miniature fruit tarts!

I started with picking the right colored paper for my tarts and when I got I want, I just started rolling them up!

Miniature Fruit Tarts

The base is composed of two parts, the one at the top is composed of one big tight coil then I surrounded it by 10 tiny coils then the bottom part is 1 huge coil consisted of 3 pieces of peach colored paper.

I've added some strawberries, mangoes, oranges and berries for the miniature fruit tart toppings.

Each one is about 1 cm in diameter.

Sorry my ruler is a bit messy :P...

I hope you liked these miniature fruit tarts! Enjoy!

Miniature Hamburger

I was inspired to create a miniature hamburger because my cousin has been craving for one for so many days now and she has been posting it on facebook... haha.

So here it is.

I used a peach colored paper for the buns of the miniature hamburger and used a red paper , roll it up into a tight coil, to make 2 pieces of tomatoes. I've also made some green lettuce using 1 big tight coil and small loose coils to make the outside leaves. Then a yellow paper that I molded into a square to make the cheese.

Then I just rolled up a white Oslo paper for the milkshake :)

Tea Time!

I finally have the guts to try 3d quilling and my first project for this is the quilled teapot and teacup.
I must say that creating the body for the teapot was really easy, I thought that would be the hard part but it wasn't.

Of course I have to add some quilled cake rolls in there to finish the look! Hope you liked my miniature quilled teapot and teacup!

Miniature Cake Inspiration #1

I was looking through photographs of miniature cakes on the web and saw some really cute ones that I love to do as a quilled cake. Most of the ones I saw on the web are created using polymer clay, and I wondered if I could do them using paper :)

Here's the first one I created and will be the first for this Series of Miniature Cakes inspired by existing cakes from the web.

Here's the inspiration cake. Photo from Kaboodle.com

And here's my version of the miniature cake.

The toppings included quilled strawberries, quilled blueberries, kiwi - seeds were made using a toothpick and pen ink, orange and green leaves for embellishment.

I covered the top with Elmer's glue and dried it using a hair dryer to make it shiny.

Miniature Cupcakes

I've always wanted to make miniature cupcakes, because in real life... I love eating them! haha.
So after purchasing some new pastel colored papers, I decided to make me some miniature cupcakes with the use of the quilling technique.

Miniature Cake Rolls

These miniature cake rolls were created out of the blue. I wasn't that inspired to create miniature cakes so I wanted to try something simple. So here are the miniature cake rolls I made yesterday.

I paired up my brown colored paper with some white, pink and green colored paper and rolled them up.

They are about an inch and a half long paper.

And just to give you an idea of how small these miniature cake rolls are, I picked up one of them.

The Bachelor's Cake

I created a new miniature cake using the quilling technique and I call it, the Bachelor's cake. It's very simple, very elegant (I guess). It's a perfect fit for guys since it's only black and white and has a tie decoration at the front.

Here it is :)

I've put on a simple black rose at the top of the cake to add a little feminine touch to the manly cake :)

On display today....

I borrowed my daughter's toy table from her doll house to display my miniature cake collection and they just look amaaaazing!!!

I started with the 3 layered miniature cake that has a pink rose at the top and the collection just grew and it will keep on growing as I've been addicted to paper quilling these days.

Happy Birthday Ice

It's my bestfriend's birthday today and I've sent her an e-greeting through Facebook. I created a card with a quilled owl as a design and some miniature cakes decorated with quilled roses and circles.

Aren't these adorable?

Ice.. I love you and you know that. We've been bestfriends for more than 10 years and we still laugh at the same jokes and I just treasure that. I wish you more blessings and more love!

Happy Happy Birthday!!
